About the role
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) seeks to hire an Arson and Bomb Investigator. This is a 12-month limited-term position that may be extended to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent. The position is open for both Sacramento County and Riverside County.
Responsibilities
- Investigate arson and bomb incidents to identify perpetrators and prevent future crimes.
- Conduct forensic analysis and gather evidence from crime scenes.
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings to law enforcement agencies and the public.
- Participate in training programs to enhance investigative skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate responses to emergencies.
Requirements
- Valid California Drivers License (CDL).
- Background Investigation cleared prior to employment.
- Respiratory Protection Program (RPP) Clearance.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting over 25 pounds.
- Experience in investigating arson and bomb-related crimes.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to arson and bomb investigations.
Qualifications
- Taken and passed the examination for this classification and be on a current certified list.
- Eligible to transfer.
- Eligible to reinstate.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in computer software and databases used in criminal investigations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay
$7,276.00 - $9,994.00 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
