Armed Security Officer - Part Time

About the Role

As an Access Control Officer in a government corrections location, you will monitor entry points, verify authorized access, and support a controlled environment for staff and visitors. You will maintain a visible presence, help to deter security-related incidents, communicate professionally, and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Verify authorization for entry, screen visitors and deliveries according to established procedures, issue and collect credentials, and maintain accurate access-related records.
• Monitor access points, doors, gates, and alarm or camera systems as assigned; report unauthorized access attempts, equipment concerns, and policy violations.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.

Requirements

• An armed guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
