Duties/Responsibilities
- Secure the designated station with attention, discipline, and professionalism.
- Conduct routine patrols of the facility's perimeter and checkpoints.
- Monitor and maintain surveillance systems (CCTV), ensuring they function properly.
- Verify the identity of visitors, guests, and employees, managing access points to the facility.
- Respond promptly to security incidents and report any suspicious activity or breaches.
- Ensure all firearms are handled safely and legally, adhering to company and Michigan state guidelines.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong skills in de-escalation training, conflict resolution, self-defense, and crowd control.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Must be at least 21 years old, as required by Michigan state law for armed positions.
Education And Experience
- A High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of experience as an armed security officer, law enforcement, or military.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including interior and exterior patrols and regular use of stairs.
- Ability to respond quickly to incidents, including moving at a brisk pace or short jogs, and to safely escort or physically support individuals when trained and required.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as doors, gates, and security equipment.
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to noise, changing temperatures, weather, and other facility conditions.
- Ability to remain alert and attentive while sitting, standing, or monitoring security systems for long periods or entire shifts.
- Sufficient vision and hearing, with or without corrective devices, to observe surroundings and respond to alarms, radios, and access control systems.
Work Schedule (Non-Exempt)
This position is scheduled on a full-time basis. Specific shift times and workdays are determined by the operation and may vary by location. Business needs may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overtime. Scheduled start and end times, assigned shifts, and workdays are subject to change based on staffing and operational requirements. Whenever feasible, advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.
