About this Contract

Security Officers perform various duties at a state courthouse. Their primary responsibilities include:

• Keeping people calm and orderly
• Maintaining the reception area
• Periodically sweeping the building for suspicious activity
• Monitoring security surveillance cameras remotely
• Providing off-site security for VIPs
• Aiding courtroom staff and visitors with security concerns
• Standing guard near hall and courtroom entrances
• Assisting in emergencies, including providing first aid and handling unruly individuals

This position is for an Armed Security Officer. They are part of a team providing these services. They do not detain individuals unless directed by proper officials. They may assist with courtroom security duties as needed.

About the Uniform

The dress code for this contract includes navy dress pants, a navy blazer and tie, a black belt, and a white button-down shirt. These items are provided by the company. Shoes must be black dress shoes or loafers. Additional uniform pieces will be issued as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 1 year of verifiable prior experience in law enforcement
• At least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Licensed CPL or LEOSA cardholder and able to pass MCOLES firearm qualification and defensive tactics training
• Pass a written psychological evaluation
• Pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana)
• Not convicted of any felonies or misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol-related offenses
• Able to sit, stand, and walk for 8-12 hours at a time and lift at least 70 lbs
• Able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary)
• Able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person or via radio
• Able to use a smart mobile phone or computer to check emails and complete online training
• Able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
• Professional and possess excellent customer service skills
• Able to complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies
