Armed Security Officer

About the role

We're seeking a professional Armed Security Officer to join our team at a premier cultural institution. The role involves providing a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, employees, volunteers, and museum collections.

Responsibilities

• Patrol museum buildings and grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and security systems.
• Conduct routine security inspections of doors, windows, gates, and restricted areas.
• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents with professionalism and sound judgment.
• Contact law enforcement, fire, or emergency medical personnel when appropriate.
• Investigate suspicious activity and complete detailed incident reports.
• Aid with crowd management during museum events and public programs.
• Escort unauthorized individuals from the property when necessary.
• Detain individuals suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives, when appropriate.
• Deliver outstanding customer service while maintaining a visible security presence.

Requirements

• South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (required at time of interview).
• Successful SLED background investigation.
• Previous verified security experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• CPR and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days.
