Responsibilities
- Patrols designated HonorHealth properties, screens visitors, and performs other activities related to the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors.
- Protects HonorHealth property, staff, patients, and visitors when needed.
- Ensures a safe and secure hospital campus by checking for suspicious activity or safety/fire hazards.
- Investigates and/or reports hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to the appropriate leadership personnel.
- Monitors and manages ingress flow through weapons detection systems in accordance with operational procedures, while maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Demonstrates vigilance in identifying threats and hazards involving continuous monitoring, awareness, and proactive measures to detect and mitigate potential risks.
- Escorts people/property to desired destination when monies, documents or safety of property or persons are a concern.
- Responds to alarms and dispatched calls and takes appropriate actions.
- Unlocks buildings/doors after checking identification and compliance with hospital policies.
- Enforces organizational policies (i.e. parking, smoking, badge compliance).
- Assists in emergency situations by acting as first responder to disturbances/emergencies such as infant abduction alarms, fire alarms, panic alarms, intruder alarms, restraint calls anywhere in hospital or on hospital grounds.
- Makes decisions and takes immediate action to maintain order, safety, and protect personnel and property during emergencies.
- Subdues resisting, aggressive, combative, and distressed individuals and when ordered by proper medical authority and in compliance with hospital policy/procedure, applies appropriate restraint equipment to prevent injury to individual or others.
- May assist law enforcement officers and security leadership with protection details, crowd control, and surveillance at large public events.
- May assist in providing security for mass casualty events including setting up Decon equipment.
- Investigates and/or documents incidents and documents policy violations in citations or emails.
- Maintains a daily log of activities.
- Provides and relays information as directed.
- Completes required training and annual/quarterly in-services.
- Participates in security department training and continuing education programs including, but not limited to Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques, Self Defense Tactics & Techniques, quarterly firearms training and annual firearms qualifications leading to certification in the use of specialized equipment.
- Represents HonorHealth as a brand ambassador for the company.
- Greets patients/visitors/vendors/staff with a smile.
- Collaborates with and maintains positive working relationships with community partners.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Associates or equivalent from a recognized college or trade school Preferred.
- 10 years law enforcement experience with separation in “good standing”, or retired law enforcement.
- Absolutely required: Drivers License (DL) - License Driver License Required.
- Absolutely required: Firearms Proficiency for retired law enforcement LEOSA - Certification Arizona LEOSA Certified Required.
- Absolutely required: HH Armed Security Officer Training Program - Skill Successful completion of the HH Armed Security Officer Training Program 90 Days Required.
- Absolutely required: Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification certification through the American Heart Association 60 Days Required.
- Absolutely required: Taser Certification - Certification within 90 days of hire by HonorHealth Public Safety/Certified Taser Instructor 90 Days Required.
