Scope

Armed Security Officers protect the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity. They work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local military headquarters and serve as a point of contact to all visitors and patrons.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation Rate of Pay: $19.50 per hour

Job Description/Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Guard posts at the entry / exit points of the local military base
• Conduct foot & vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications
• Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities
• Document daily activities and report all incidents
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age or older
• Current, valid State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• No felony convictions, and must pass a criminal background check
• Pass a drug test at the time of hire and annually thereafter
• A citizen of the United States of America
• Impeccable grooming (ability to adhere to Appearance and Grooming policy)
• A friendly, positive, professional image
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• The ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner
• A valid State of Michigan driver’s license, clean driving record, and no major violations in the last 3 years
• Willingness to become CPR/1st Aide/AED Certified
• Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security preferred
• Physical requirements: physically and mentally sound, able to sit, stand or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances, and possibly up and down stairs, able to respond to emergency situations, able to work in or outdoors during all seasons, able to hear conversations in noisy environments, able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds, able to pass a Physical Agility Test within 90 days of hire, and annually thereafter
