Scope

Armed Security Officers protect the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors from criminal activity. They work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local military headquarters and serve as a point of contact for visitors and patrons.

Compensation and Benefits

• Rate of Pay: $19.50 per hour

Grayling, Michigan

Job Description/Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Guard posts at entry/exit points of the local military base
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of the grounds
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications
• Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities
• Document daily activities and report all incidents
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 21 years old
• Current, valid State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• No felony convictions
• Criminal background check required
• Pass a drug test at time of hire and annually thereafter
• American citizen
• Impeccable grooming
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Willingness to become CPR/1st Aid/AED certified
• Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security preferred

Physical Requirements

• Physically and mentally sound
• Able to sit, stand, or walk for the duration of the shift, including walking long distances and up and down stairs
• Able to respond to emergency situations
• Able to work in or outdoors during all seasons
• Able to hear conversations in noisy environments
• Able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds
• Able to pass a Physical Agility Test within 90 days of hire, and annually thereafter

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Certification
• Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL)
• LEOSA Credential (if applicable)
