Job Description/Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Guard posts at the entry / exit points of the local base.
- Conduct foot & vehicle patrols of the interior and exterior of the grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas.
- Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications.
- Look for suspicious persons, packages and activities.
- Follow site specific post guidelines.
- Document daily activities and report all incidents.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Minimum Requirements
- At least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.106717.
- Must be at least 21 years old and be a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work.
- Not convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.106010.
- Not convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.106010(1)(c).
- Pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana).
- Adhere to our company’s Uniform and Appearance policy and present a friendly, positive, and professional image.
- Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner.
- If driving company or client vehicles, or if using your own vehicle for work activities, must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and have a clean driving record with less than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years, less than 2 at-fault accidents in the last 3 years, and no other major violations in the last 3 years.
- Willing to become CPR/First Aid/AED certified and capable of administering this care in emergency situations.
- Pass a Physical Agility Test within 90 days of hire, and annually thereafter.
- Physically and mentally sound and able to always remain alert while on duty (Armed security officers must complete a psychological evaluation upon hire).
- Able to sit, stand, and walk long distances, including navigating stairs, for the duration of the shift (8-12 hours).
- Able to work indoors or outdoors during all seasons.
- Able to use hands and fingers to manipulate keys, tools, and other equipment.
- Able to hear conversations (in person or via 2-way radio) in noisy environments.
- Able to lift up to 70lbs.
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision.
