Scope

Armed Security Officers protect the site’s building, grounds, assets, employees, and visitors against criminal activity. They work on a team to control access at the entry/exit points of a local military headquarters and serve as a point of contact to all visitors and patrons.

Compensation and Benefits

• Compensation Rate of Pay: $19.50 per hour

Grayling, Michigan

Job Description/Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service
• Guard posts at entry / exit points of the local military base
• Conduct foot & vehicle patrols of the grounds
• Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas
• Check for employee, vendor, and visitor identifications
• Look for suspicious persons, packages, and activities
• Document daily activities and report all incidents
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age or older
• Current, valid State of Michigan Concealed Pistol License
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• No felony convictions, and must pass a criminal background check
• Pass a drug test at time of hire and annually thereafter
• A citizen of the United States of America
• Impeccable grooming (ability to adhere to Appearance and Grooming policy)
• Friendly, positive, professional image
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to solve problems and de-escalate situations in a non-confrontational manner
• Valid State of Michigan driver’s license, clean driving record, no recent violations
• Willingness to become CPR/1st Aide/AED Certified
• Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or armed security preferred

Physical Requirements

• Physically and mentally sound
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for duration of shift, including walking long distances and up and down stairs
• Ready to respond to emergency situations
• Ability to work in or outdoors during all seasons
• Ability to hear conversations in noisy environments
• Occasional lifting up to 70 pounds
• Pass Physical Agility Test within 90 days of hire, and annually thereafter
