Armed Security Officer

About the role

The Security Officer position at Calvary Chapel is a non-exempt, hourly role reporting to the Director of Security. This role involves supporting the Security team by assisting with the safe and secure access to campus and school amenities, and addressing security-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the safe and secure access to campus and school amenities
• Serve as a facilitator for security-related issues
• Lock and unlock campus and school gates, buildings, and rooms as needed
• Provide routine patrols of the main areas of the campus and maintain a visible presence during shifts
• Communicate necessary information to other staff and affected ministries
• Work together with various departments to provide security for church services and ministry events
• Respond to questions or needs throughout the assigned shift via the Security cell phone and radio
• Document any unusual activities, incidents, injuries, or other pertinent information
• Communicate with the Director of Security and other Security Officers as needed

Requirements

• Prior Law Enforcement or Military Experience
• Florida Class “D” Security Officer License
• Florida Class “G” Security Officer License
• Appropriate licenses to carry a gun (if required)

• Proficiency with Google Suites
• Gifts of the Holy Spirit evident and flowing daily
• A teachable spirit and a flexible profile when needed
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Enthusiasm when working; able to establish priorities and direct multiple problems or inquiries simultaneously
• Compassion and empathy for others; able to win people’s confidence and trust
• Experience in counseling others with the Word of God
• The ability to perform vigorous activities when called upon
• Ability to work weekends and evenings
• Flexibility with good time management skills
