Armed Security Officer
Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital offering patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more.
The security department's goal is to maintain a safe work environment for all staff, visitors, patients, and physicians. Security is responsible for safety at the hospital, medical office building, Eunice Smith Nursing Home, parking lots, and roads.
About the Role
Work 12-hour shifts - Days - 6:00 am-6:30 pm, with every 3rd weekend off. Must be able to attend the Academy training - 4 weeks - 6:30 am - 3:00 pm - before taking a post. Must have a current FOID card to be eligible.
Responsibilities
- Provides continuous security patrols of all areas of the medical center.
- Responds to emergency situations according to approved, established Security Department protocol.
- Mitigates crisis situations such as code responses, disturbances, fires, and disaster drills.
- Ensures proper documentation is completed on all patrol vehicles and incident reports.
- Ensures equipment issued and used during the execution of duties is properly maintained.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Current FOID card.
- Must attend and complete a 4-week Academy training (6:30 am - 3:00 pm) before taking a post.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field.
- ASP Baton Certification.
- CPR/AED certification.
- IAHSS certification.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification.
- PPCT PD - PSU certification.
