About the role

Armed Security Officers protect site buildings, grounds, assets, employees, tenants, and visitors against criminal activity, accidents, and fires. In this region, you will safeguard one of the State's most critical infrastructures: military bases. You will work on a team to control access at all entry/exit points and perform vehicle patrols around the grounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols, depending on the site location.
• Customer Relations: Engage with clients, resident families, and residents.
• Access Control: Ensure only authorized individuals enter the site.
• Camera Monitoring: Monitor CCTV for safety and security concerns.
• Foot Patrol: Patrol interior and exterior areas for security, safety, or maintenance issues.
• Mobile Patrol: Patrol parking lots, roads, building exteriors, and remote locations in a security vehicle.
• Monitor Fire Alarms: Ensure fire alarms are functioning accurately.
• Provide excellent customer service to visitors, staff, and leadership.
• Observe and report activities and incidents at assigned client locations.
• Guard posts, including building lobbies, gates, reception areas, and control centers.
• Conduct periodic foot patrols of assigned locations.
• Prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors by enforcing site policies and procedures.
• Check employee and vendor identifications.
• Identify suspicious persons, packages, and activities.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, follow through on requests, and update operations managers.
• Follow and enforce site-specific post guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
• Must have a current, valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL).
• Must pass a drug screening at hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana; federal compliance required).
• No felony convictions; must pass a criminal background check in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
