Armed Physical Security Officer - Day Shift

About the role

The Armed Physical Security Officer at ERCOT is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of ERCOT facilities and assets. This role involves a variety of duties including providing customer service, patrolling areas for security and safety concerns, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and assistance to visitors, employees, and staff
• Patrol areas to detect security, safety, and fire hazards
• Secure buildings and monitor and control access to buildings and parking lots
• Operate radios, telephones, and computer equipment
• Maintain and operate alarm systems and CCTV equipment
• Perform security patrols and observe any and all activity at assigned posts
• Report incidents through detailed documentation
• Respond to calls for service and assist local authorities during emergencies

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements
• Pass a physical abilities test in accordance with the Security Training and Qualification Guidelines
• Pass State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
• Absolutely must be able to pass periodic physical fitness tests demonstrating the ability to meet heavy physical demands
• Must possess a current Level III commissioned security officer license or complete and pass all requirements outlined in Texas Administrative Code 35.81 to acquire and maintain a Level III commissioned security officer license within 30 days of hire

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years TXDPS Level III security experience operating under the ERCOT Security Training and Qualification Plan (preferred)
• TDPS Private Security Level III (preferred)

Pay

$20 - $27 per hour
