Location & Commitments

Full Time, Part Time, Temporary, or Supplemental roles based at our Greenville location. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Early and late hours required. Overtime may be needed to ensure patient care, task completion, and timely call returns. Weekend work is rare but occasionally necessary.

Reports to Clinical Supervisor, Manager, or Director of Operations. No supervisory responsibilities.

  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Normal visual acuity and hearing required
  • Exposure to bodily fluids

Typical Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other clinic-environment conditions

About The Role

Provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established regulations, organizational policies, and departmental procedures. Works under the direction of a provider within office policies and procedures to deliver direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers during office visits, physical exams, and in-office procedures
  • Prepare exam rooms for clinical procedures and assist practitioners with patient care
  • Perform accurate measurement of vital signs (orthostatic blood pressure, temperature, pulse, body weight, height) and complete health history questions
  • Record medications, allergies, lab work, pharmacy, and PCP in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Perform ear lavage, EKG, wound care/dressing changes, IRIS catheterizations, bladder catheterizations, and UNNA boot application
  • Assist with Pap smears and related lab work
  • Provide patient education
  • Administer injections and manage immunizations
  • Handle prior authorizations
  • Support population health initiatives and care gap closure
  • Follow standing orders (e.g., UA, Flu, Strep tests)
  • Prepare and administer medications via PO, intramuscular, intradermal, intravenous, or subcutaneous routes per provider order
  • Order, stock, and maintain exam rooms and clinic areas
  • Notify patients of lab results
  • Answer phone calls and refill medications at the direction of the physician
  • Make referrals to coordinate patient care
  • Disinfect exam rooms between patients
  • Perform delegated specialty procedures safely and effectively
  • Start, maintain, and disconnect IVs per physician or mid-level provider order
  • Act as station floater, communicating panic lab values, assisting with same-day requests, and managing desktop tasks for station providers and staff
  • Serve as backup for Station Supervisor
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Report high-risk situations to management
  • Clean equipment appropriately
  • Maintain licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing
  • Practice infection control following OSHA guidelines and office policy
  • Maintain CPR certification
  • Attend fire safety classes, clinical meetings, compliance training, and continuing education as offered
  • Adhere to department and office policies

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Active and unrestricted RN licensure with the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON)
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/HER) software
  • Professional demeanor with strong awareness of patient and family privacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with others
  • Active listening skills
  • Ability to observe, document, and narrate events accurately in grammatically correct English
  • Strong spelling, proofreading, and editing skills
