About the Role

ResCare Community Living, a part of the Sevita family, provides quality services that empower individuals, enhance independence, and help people live well. Since 1974, we’ve supported individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live more independently at home and in their community. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly supervisor role overseeing a single program or unit, typically supporting 4-8 individuals in residential settings or 10-15 individuals in periodic, vocational, or day programs. Duties are split between direct support, professional activities, and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of Direct Support Professionals: Oversee day-to-day program operations, including delivery of supports, implementation of person-centered plans, healthcare, advocacy, customer engagement, regulatory compliance, and physical environment oversight.
  • Direct Support: Work regularly scheduled shifts as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
  • Documentation and Records: Maintain and review individual records, billing, and program documentation for accuracy and completion daily.
  • Program Planning: Assist the Program Director in developing individual program plans; train and monitor implementation across all shifts.
  • Team Meetings: Attend and assist with routine progress meetings.
  • Compliance: Assist in maintaining licensing compliance; implement Sevita compliance plan; manage individual rights implementation.
  • Management of Individuals’ Assets: Ensure safety of individuals' funds and property; monitor spending and reconcile financial accounts monthly.
  • Incident Reporting: Complete or assist DSPs in documenting incident reports; submit initial reports to the Program Director.
  • Billing and Utilization: Compile census or attendance information; review and attest to accuracy; submit data for billing.
  • Health Care:
    • Monitor health of individuals served; document and communicate with medical professionals; implement preventive strategies.
    • Schedule or assist in scheduling health care appointments; may accompany individuals; document visits and oversee follow-through.
    • Administer or support self-administration of medications; document delivery; review medication documentation; train staff on changes.
    • Purchase and maintain medical supplies and equipment; train staff on proper use.
    • Develop menus based on diets and preferences; purchase or oversee food and supplies; direct and monitor food service.
  • Stakeholder Relations:
    • Maintain productive relations with individuals, families, case managers, and other stakeholders.
    • Implement Sevita Customer Service Standards; train DSPs in delivery.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of DSPs in consultation with leadership.
    • Populate and maintain schedules to ensure shift coverage and minimize overtime.
    • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training; verify training records.
    • Prepare and conduct annual evaluations for DSPs in consultation with the Program Director.
    • Coach employees; address disciplinary matters; recommend or participate in termination decisions.
    • Ensure employee safety and workers’ compensation compliance.
    • Lead or assist with monthly program meetings for DSPs.
  • Financial Management:
    • Purchase food, household supplies, office supplies, and minor equipment; review and attest to company credit card statements.
    • Secure and safeguard individuals' funds; manage financial ledgers and receipts.
    • Review census, attendance, and documentation for accurate billing; monitor utilization.
    • Monitor staffing hours for budgetary compliance.
  • Census Management:
    • Capture daily census within systems; ensure accurate and timely service documentation.
    • Develop understanding of census performance; escalate potential service disruptions.
    • Support location preparations for expected placements (e.g., room setup, safety requirements).
  • Maintenance:
    • Test drive and inspect vehicles monthly; report safety concerns; ensure routine maintenance and cleanliness.
    • Train staff in safe vehicle operation and transporting individuals.
    • Schedule and monitor housekeeping, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance.
    • Make or arrange minor repairs; report and schedule repairs with maintenance personnel.
    • Monitor environmental safety, including water temperature, refrigeration, alarms, and extinguishers.
    • Monitor and ensure prompt repair of wheelchairs, lifts, and other safety equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required, including backfilling roles under supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise Direct Support Professionals.
  • Manage assigned personnel, including performance evaluations, orientation, and training.
  • Make decisions on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, and terminations.
  • Resolve employee problems within position responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of related work experience.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Current driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance if driving on behalf of the company or transporting individuals.
  • Other licensure(s) or certification(s) where required by regulatory authority.

Work Environment

Provides and oversees services or supports in residential, vocational, or in-home settings. The Program Supervisor works at the program location and is expected to visit each shift and all employees at least once per month, including supervising periodic or hourly services.

Physical Requirements

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
