Arena Attendant (Part Time)

About the role

The Township of Selwyn is seeking applicants for various positions including Arena Attendant (Part Time), Canteen Server, and Deputy Fire Chief.

Responsibilities

• General custodial and maintenance duties within and surrounding recreational facilities
• Assist with set-up/takedown and operation of facilities for functions, reception, and event rentals
• Perform general and custodial maintenance tasks such as cleaning stands, removing debris, mopping, cleaning dressing rooms, moving of nets for ice resurfacing
• Work independently and in a team environment, providing professional service to the public and representing the municipality
• Supervise the operation of the Fire Department, enforcing legislation and ensuring fire safety

Requirements

• Can-do attitude and availability for late-evening and weekend hours
• Prior experience working in an arena environment and/or working with the public in a customer service role preferred
• Experience in a customer service role with cash handling experience
• Certification in Safe Food Handling procedures and Health and Safety Awareness training for Workers
• Minimum five (5) years’ related experience in a supervisory role within a fire service
• Minimum NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II, NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I II and III, NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector I, NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator, NFPA 1035-1 Public Educator, and NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I & II certifications
• Knowledge of modern firefighting, rescue and fire prevention principles, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Fire Prevention and Protection Act, and NFPA, CSA, ULC and other standards
• First aid, CPR, defibrillation, and oxygen therapy certification, and valid Class “D” licence with “Z” endorsement
• Strong leadership skills, initiative, customer focus, and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to supervise volunteer firefighters in a similar environment

Pay

• Arena Attendant (Part Time): Based on minimum wage (as determined by the Employment Standards Act, 2000)
• Canteen Server: Based on minimum wage (as determined by the Employment Standards Act, 2000)
• Deputy Fire Chief: Salary range from $90,854 to $110,552, based on a 40-hour work week
