About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team at Ross, a leading off-price retail chain with over 2,200 stores. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Area Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a specific area of the store, managing associates, and ensuring a safe, secure, and customer-friendly environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding and practicing safe behaviors, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions, and performing regular security checks.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation, maintain a clean work area, and remove clutter from emergency exits.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed, including handling merchandise trucks, processing non-merchandise deliveries, and managing stockrooms.
- Manage the front-end area, train associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other procedures, and ensure proper inventory management and loss prevention.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring their cleanliness and adherence to company policies.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, such as cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Regularly stand, walk, and move around the Store.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
