About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store. This position is vital for maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service standards, and overall store operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by practicing safe behaviors and immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Ensure the security of the building, including controlling access points, managing EAS devices, and handling cash office security.
- Manage customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting incidents, and following emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when necessary.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the company dress code.
- Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard, and handle daily trash removal.
- Oversee general merchandise management, including recovery, sizing, and markdowns, processing incoming deliveries, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Execute and supervise company operational processes as needed, including loss prevention activities and front-end supervision.
- Train and coach associates on cash register operations, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
- Manage associate schedules, ensure equipment is working properly, and expedite go-backs and merchandise restocking.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring garment tags are audited and compliance with company policy is maintained.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the store manager, including cash pull and bank deposit conduct, and payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
