About the role

The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, merchandise presentation, loss prevention, and front-end operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
  • Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
  • Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
  • Manage customer service by treating all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect and demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
  • Support the Company brand by representing and supporting the brand at all times and ensuring all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Manage loss prevention by understanding and complying with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintaining a high level of customer service presence on the sales floor.
  • Supervise associates at the front end, ensuring they execute to Company standards and manage the line to expedite customer wait time.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
  • Manage administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
