About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer safety, including accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard, and remove clutter to ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, handle non-merchandise inbound deliveries, and help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Manage the front-end operations, train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures, ensuring a friendly and productive environment.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring the maintenance and cleanliness of the fitting rooms, and auditing garment tags to comply with Company policy.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, such as conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, controlling break schedules, and ensuring proper supplies and recovery for the front-end area.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
