About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, merchandise management, loss prevention, and front-end operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by practicing safe behaviors and immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Manage security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area.
- Ensure customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting incidents, and following emergency procedures. Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Manage the daily trash removal, keep the store clean and well-maintained, and process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Execute Company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches when working, ensuring Associates execute to Company standards at the Front End, and managing the line to expedite customer wait time.
- Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring all garments are accounted for and compliant with Company policy, and handle merchandise returns appropriately.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, managing Front End controls, and handling payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
