About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding safety as the top priority and practicing safe behaviors.
- Create a safe and secure shopping environment by maintaining a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Maintain Safe & Secure Environments: Correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately to Store Leadership.
- Manage security of the building including entrance/exit control, EAS device daily function check, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick-ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Customer Service: Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- General Merchandising: Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards, process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, and ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
- Loss Prevention: Maintain a high customer service presence on the sales floor, engage with customers and associates, and ensure heightened loss prevention awareness.
- Front End Supervision and Operations: Execute all Company Best Practices, manage the line to expedite customer wait time, train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
- Fitting Rooms: Maintain and clean fitting rooms, ensure all garment tags are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and ensure go-back compliance throughout the day.
- Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager: Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits, understand and adhere to policies and procedures related to refunds, associate purchases, securing tills and cash in safes, register paid outs/ins, void approvals, register media, and break schedules.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
