About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, general merchandising, loss prevention, front-end supervision, and fitting room maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding and practicing safety protocols, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions, and performing regular security checks.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation, maintain a clean work area, and remove clutter from emergency exits.
- Manage the store's inventory, including receiving merchandise, processing markdowns, and ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Support loss prevention efforts by maintaining a high level of customer service presence, engaging associates, and adhering to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Execute Company Best Practices at the front end, manage the checkout process, and train associates on cash register operations and shortage control policies.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring their cleanliness and adherence to company policies, and oversee the return of merchandise.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the store manager, such as cash handling, payroll administration, and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to lift and push/pull items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
