About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store. This position is vital for maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment, ensuring customer service excellence, and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Manage security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pickups, and register area.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer service by treating all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Manage general merchandising by ensuring recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards, processing all merchandise with urgency, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Manage loss prevention by understanding and complying with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintaining a high customer service presence, and conducting "Code 50" package inspections.
- Supervise front-end operations by executing Company Best Practices, managing the line to expedite customer wait time, training and coaching associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
- Manage fitting rooms by ensuring their maintenance and cleanliness, auditing garment tags, and enforcing go-back compliance.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, managing front-end control, and handling payroll administration.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
