About the role
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, maintain a clean work area, execute and supervise Company operational processes, and manage various aspects of store operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding safety is the number one priority and practicing safe behaviors.
- Create a safe and secure shopping environment for customers by maintaining a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting accidents, and following emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Ensure all areas of the store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency, receive merchandise trucks when needed, process non-merchandise inbound deliveries, and help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor.
- Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area, execute floor moves and signing, and re-wrap as needed.
- Manage loss prevention by maintaining a large customer service presence on the sales floor, engaging customers and associates, and heightened loss prevention awareness.
- Support the Front End by ensuring associates execute to Company standards, maintaining pace, energy, and "presence," managing the line to expedite, and training on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other Front End procedures.
- Supervise fitting rooms by ensuring garments are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and merchandise returned to the sales floor is ticketed, scanned, nubbed, and security tagged as needed.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager, including conducting cash pulls and bank deposits, controlling Front End break schedules, ensuring proper supplies and recovery, and expediting go backs.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
