About the role

The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing general operations and supervision during the Manager on Duty shift. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, merchandise management, loss prevention, and front-end operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding and practicing safety protocols, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions, and managing security measures.
  • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
  • Ensure proper merchandise presentation, maintain a clean work area, and remove clutter from emergency exits.
  • Manage customer safety, prevent accidents, report incidents, and execute emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems, respond to after-hours alarms, and participate in loss prevention activities.
  • Support the store's brand image by representing Ross in a professional manner and ensuring all areas are clean and merchandised to standard.
  • Execute Company best practices, minimize steps and touches, and manage the front-end area to expedite customer wait times.
  • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front-end procedures.
  • Maintain fitting rooms, ensure go-back compliance, and handle merchandise returns according to company policy.
  • Perform administrative duties such as cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
