About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment, customer service, general merchandising, loss prevention, front-end supervision, and fitting room maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by understanding and practicing safety measures, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions, and performing regular security checks.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Manage the store’s front-end operations, ensuring associates execute to company standards, controlling wait times, and training on best practices like "Scan and Bag."
- Oversee loss prevention efforts, maintaining a high level of customer service presence, and adhering to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring their cleanliness and proper inventory management.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the store manager, including cash handling, payroll administration, and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Special Skills
- Ability to use all store equipment, including Point of Sale (POS) terminals, registers, and PCs.
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, and move around the store frequently, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasional lifting and pushing/pulling of items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
Qualifications
- Ability to regularly push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs. for associates working in stockrooms.
- Supervisory responsibilities include managing Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (where applicable).
