About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by understanding safety is the top priority and practicing safe behaviors.
- Create a safe and secure shopping environment by maintaining a high level of awareness on the sales floor.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Maintain Safe & Secure Environments: Correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately to Store Leadership.
- Manage security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device daily function check, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick-ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
- Customer Service: Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times, maintaining a professional appearance and ensuring all Associates adhere to the Company Dress Code.
- Ensure all areas of the Store are clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Ensure compliance to the monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
- Control Retail Associates' break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks.
- Ensure proper supplies and recovery for the Front End area.
- Teach all Associates the "Scan and Bag" best practice.
- Ensure salability of merchandise on the Front End, aisle tables, Men's/Women's 4-way features, and specialty racks.
- Fitting Rooms: Maintain and clean the Fitting Rooms, ensure all garment tags are audited and accounted for to Company policy, and ensure go-back compliance throughout the day.
- Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager: Conducts cash pulls and bank deposits, understands and adheres to policies and procedures, and administers payroll.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
