About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team at Ross, focusing on specific areas of the store and overseeing general operations. This position requires a deep understanding of safety, customer service, merchandising, loss prevention, front-end supervision, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by practicing safe behaviors and immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Ensure the store is a welcoming and organized space by keeping areas clean and merchandised to standard.
- Manage the store’s security, including controlling access, checking EAS devices, and handling cash office security.
- Provide excellent customer service by treating all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed, such as loss prevention and administrative duties.
- Train and coach associates on various procedures and best practices.
- Manage the front-end area, ensuring associates execute to company standards and maintain a productive environment.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring proper maintenance and compliance with company policies.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the store manager.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Regularly stand, walk, and move around the store.
- Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
