Area Supervisor
About the role
The Area Supervisor plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a specific area of the store and managing the general operations and supervision of the store when acting as the Manager on Duty. Key responsibilities include maintaining a safe and secure environment, customer service, general merchandising, loss prevention, front-end supervision, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment by immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times.
- Execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.
- Manage associates, ensuring they execute to Company standards at the Front End, manage the line to expedite customer wait time, and train on cash registers and shortage control policies.
- Supervise fitting rooms, ensuring their cleanliness and adherence to Company policy.
- Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale equipment and applications.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 lbs.
Skills
Essential skills include understanding and complying with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, demonstrating integrity and honesty, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise, conducting "Code 50" package inspections, and maximizing productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches.
