About the role

The Area Superintendent oversees total project supervision effort to ensure appropriate personnel, budget, and schedule are met. They plan and supervise General Foreman and Foreman on craft activities, coordinate work with different crafts, departments, or other contractors, and maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise General Foreman and Foreman on craft activities, including determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule, and documenting actual hours worked.
  • Cookinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors.
  • Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and Project Management to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule.
  • Aid in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required.
  • Maintain liaison with unions, resolve jurisdictional disputes, requisition required manpower, etc., as necessary.
  • Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Maintain liaison with other departments (i.e., Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
  • Lead in the implementation of all field training programs.
  • Closely monitor company QA/QC programs.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and ability to control and supervise large groups essential.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years’ supervisory experience in similar facility, construction technology, methods and equipment, tools and work procedures required.
  • Can be a combination of education, training and relevant experience.

Skills

Pay

Competitive compensation package.

Schedule

Up to 25-50% travel.

Working Conditions

  • General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending.
  • Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
  • Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the jobsite.
