About the role

As the Power / Recovery Area Manager at Sylvamo, you will manage the supply of steam, electricity, air, and water to the mill in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner while supporting our mission to sustain forests, renew ecosystems, and deliver essential paper products.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe and caring culture within the power department.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with all regulations.
  • Coordinate and communicate with maintenance and planners.
  • Produce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Work with maintenance to ensure all work orders receive timely rough cost estimates.
  • Engage and develop crew leadership and provide world-class customer service to other mill departments.
  • Manage the reliability of the power boiler, turbine generator, utilities, recovery boiler, evaporator, demineralizer, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Provide guidance to the mill to achieve minimum energy costs.
  • Interact effectively and cooperatively at all levels of the organization.
  • Manage all aspects of revenue generation, including the marketing of electrical power.
  • Coordinate all aspects of outages (planning, execution, reliability, cost, etc.).
  • Support the Project Development Process, working closely with Project Engineering and area leaders in Power and Maintenance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of pulp and paper experience or a bachelor’s degree in engineering with at least 2 years of equivalent experience.
  • Solid understanding of the Power department—safety, environmental, costs, quality, and customers.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks, with a strong grasp of team concepts and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Established skill to execute work based on standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce accountability.
  • Proven safety leadership skills.
  • Competence to work with minimum supervision and at all levels of mill management.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.

Pay

Salary range: $102,200–$129,700 (PG Range 13-14, based on qualifications).
