Area Manufacturing Manager - Power Systems

About the role

The Area Manufacturing Manager at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) serves as a key technical expert, facilitating the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and practices across PCA's diverse facilities. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical power systems, project management, and the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the business and manufacturing operations.
• Thoroughly understand 13.8KV to 120VAC power distribution systems and installation requirements.
• Knowledge of power system design criteria.
• Experience with SKM analysis software or EasyPower and ability to adapt to SKM.
• Programming and setting up protection relays for power systems and motors.
• Developing breaker and protection relay settings, GE UR relays a plus.
• Breaker and MV Motor starter maintenance evaluation, selection, and application.
• Project management support across the business when and where needed.
• Technical training to plant personnel on newly installed technologies.
• Development of plans, specifications, and reports.
• Make actionable recommendations based on sound engineering judgment.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
• 10+ years as Electrical Power Engineer, Project Engineer (Power System preferred), or Field Tech Support.
• Paper Mill or Box Plant Experience a plus.
• Able to travel up to 80% of the time and reside anywhere in the lower 48 states with good access to reliable air transportation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively with consulting engineers, local electricity providers, and local authorities having jurisdiction.
• Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, NPFA-70E, and Electrical Safety in the Workplace.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
• GE UR and Motor protection relay familiarity.
• SKM Power analysis software proficiency.
• Microsoft Project and Autocad ability.

• Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year.

Pay

Starting salary range for the position: $129,500 - $185,000. Bonus: Annual – Based upon individual contribution and overall, Company performance.
