Area Manager Intern – Summer 2027 (TN, LA, OK, MS, AR), University Recruiting
Operations roles at Amazon put you at the center of how things move from a click to a doorstep. You'll help design, improve, and run systems that connect people, products, and places, at scale. You'll take ownership early, work closely with teams to solve real-world challenges, and see the direct results of your decisions as they reach customers every day.
About the role
This is a ten-week internship (40 hours per week) during the summer of 2027 located within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations or other operations buildings. As an Area Manager Intern, you will learn how to coach, motivate and mentor a team of Amazon associates in a warehouse environment. Your main focus will be learning to manage a team as well as developing a summer project in partnership with your site leadership.
Amazon provides extensive training and development to become an exceptional people leader. This is not a corporate, remote or office-based position; our warehouses are fast-paced supply chain environments where standing, walking, and on-the-production-floor conversations are common.

- Drive standard work and continuous improvement through an intern project.
- Work independently and operate in an autonomous environment.
- Stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Regularly work shift patterns that include nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on business needs (most follow a fixed 4-day work week with 3 days off).
- Oversee truck deliveries, handle and sort packages using pallet jacks, operate PIT equipment (at applicable facilities) and step in as needed.
- Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach.
- Climb and descend stairs (when applicable).
