About the role

Operations roles at Amazon put you at the center of how things move from a click to a doorstep. You'll help design, improve, and run systems that connect people, products, and places, at scale. As a ten-week internship during the summer of 2027, this position is located within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operations buildings. You'll take ownership early, work closely with teams to solve real-world challenges, and see the direct results of your decisions as they reach customers every day.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship where you will learn to coach, motivate, and mentor a team of Amazon associates in a warehouse environment. The role is on-site and involves standing, walking, and on-the-production-floor conversations.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to coach, manage, and develop a team of 50-100 Amazon Associates.
  • Drive standard work and continuous improvement through an intern project.
  • Work independently and operate in an autonomous environment.
  • Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
  • Work shift patterns that include nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on business needs (most follow a fixed 4-day work week with 3 days off).
  • Oversee truck deliveries, handle and sort packages using pallet jacks, operate PIT equipment (at applicable facilities), and step in as needed.
  • Work in an environment where the noise level varies.
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Climb and descend stairs (when applicable).

  • Walk the floor regularly to stay connected to your team and address issues in real time.
  • Drive results across safety, quality, and productivity, balancing all three.
  • Adjust staffing and resources as volume and priorities shift.
  • Coach and develop team members, respond to challenges, and partner with support teams to remove roadblocks.
  • Keep peers and leadership informed on shift progress and flag risks.
  • Develop your internship project.

End of Shift: Close Strong

  • Conduct a final walkthrough to ensure the area is clean and organized for the next team.
