Area Manager, Emergency Management

Responsibilities

• Manages the assigned service delivery area.
• Led emergency preparedness programs, including training, drills, and exercises.
• Participates in on-call rotation, ensuring effective incident response, documentation, and follow-up actions.
• Manages rounding processes, identifies deficiencies, and implements corrective actions.
• Manages business continuity planning efforts and provides strategic guidance to department leadership.
• Delivers emergency response training.
• Covers equipment maintenance and ensures readiness of emergency equipment, fleet, and supply inventory.
• Contributes to specialized programs, committees, and readiness initiatives.
• Trains, develops, and communicates with staff.
• Takes responsibility for financial stewardship in coordination with department leadership and organizational goals.
• Achieves quality goals for assigned area.
• Manages and promotes continuous process improvements in assigned area.
• Provides staff feedback and coaching.
• Manages conflict in a proactive manner and resolves them promptly.
• Actively engages staff with updates and news, as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams.
• Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate.

Requirements

• Four (4) years of progressively more responsible emergency management experience.
• Completion of FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) in Emergency Management Certificate within one (1) year of employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment, or the equivalency.
