Job Summary
The Area Manager (2nd shift) is a frontline manager responsible for driving all functions in their area of the warehouse. Key responsibilities include data analysis, managing payroll and HR functions, performance management, maintaining high safety standards, and guiding overall production.
Essential Job Functions
- Productivity and Results:
- Provides daily direction to Area Supervisors to achieve operating results, adheres to productivity standards and business unit goals, employs motivational and employee relation techniques to engage and motivate the team, schedules and deploys personnel to meet performance goals, troubleshoots workflow disruptions and takes corrective action.
- Staffing and Staff Development:
- Recruits quality personnel promptly to maintain optimal staffing levels, ensures supervisors provide proper orientation and training, conducts performance reviews and sets goals and development plans for departmental personnel, administers corrective action as needed, fosters positive relationships with employees to enhance engagement.
- Operational Support and Control:
- Develops, recommends, and implements process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and customer service, collaborates with maintenance and support teams to keep equipment in optimal condition, reconciles payroll and attendance records in compliance with policies, reviews productivity standards and makes recommendations for adjustments, contributes to the annual budgeting process.
- Safety and Quality of Results:
- Enforces safety policies and procedures, conducts safety training, performs quality checks to ensure compliance with established standards.
Education & Experience
- Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 2-3 years of leadership experience.
- Prioritization: Experience in a high-volume automated multi-shift distribution center, familiarity with conveyers, RF scanning, and pick-to-ship container methods, comprehensive knowledge of inventory control and traffic management, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ability to learn and use in-house software.
- Preferred: Experience with continuous improvement projects, managing 20+ direct reports, bilingualism (English/Spanish).

- High volume automated multi-shift distribution center experience.
- Familiarity with inventory control and traffic management.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Windows.
- Ability to learn and use in-house software applications like PowerBi and PKMS.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Leadership qualities, including guiding, training, and offering counsel to employees.
- Bilingualism (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Fast-paced, standing on concrete floors for up to 8 hours per day.
- Exposure to loud noise.
- Functional vision and hearing required.
- Heavy lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs.
