Area Maintenance Manager Intern - Summer 2027 (Nationwide)

About the role
This is a ten-week internship (40 hours per week) during the summer of 2027 located within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operations buildings. As an Area Maintenance Manager Intern, you will learn how to coach, motivate, and mentor a team of Amazon mechanical technicians in a warehouse environment. You will learn from site Area Maintenance Manager(s), dive into standard work, innovation, and continuous improvement through a metric-impacting intern project. Most projects are rooted in engineering process improvement and have included creating operator-based preventative maintenance initiatives, equipment performance and efficiency statistical analyses, and maintenance process mapping.
This role requires flexibility to relocate, as placement is based on business need. Site placement aligns your location preferences with availability after your interview. Summer relocation and housing assistance are provided if eligible. Based on performance, you may receive a full-time employment offer upon graduation.

Responsibilities
- Support multi-site production by working in a safe, customer-focused manner; must be highly self-motivated and customer-centric
- Develop and design solutions to difficult problems, manage outside contractors, and be on call for emergencies
- Handle multiple projects and daily activities, meet deadlines, and develop plans to accomplish departmental and distribution goals
- Ensure all safety programs and procedures are followed; develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and good working relationships with operations
- Develop business plans and provide guidance for their successful implementation
- Help develop, set, and track budgets
- Provide enriched feedback to enhance individual performance, including written performance appraisals, discipline, and up to termination
- Mentor facilities associates by motivating and providing direction to help them achieve their goals
- Conduct project planning and cost analysis
- Promote and conduct good housekeeping
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program with all requirements anticipated to be completed between December 2027 and August 2028
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work safely and cooperatively with others, adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions, and follow all federal, state, and local laws and company policies
- Flexibility to relocate based on business need
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program for Civil, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or another related field
