About the role
The Area Logistics Supervisor oversees Symbria delivery drivers and courier services to ensure timely daily departures of all deliveries. This role identifies processes and systems to optimize delivery routes or shipping options, controlling costs across all Symbria Rx Services locations. It also establishes reporting systems to track delivery effectiveness and timeliness, and maintains pharmacy equipment, including medication cart oversight.
Responsibilities
- Procure and maintain all community equipment supplied by the pharmacy.
- Oversee the departure of scheduled routes, focusing on consistent on-time departures and deliveries.
- Act as a liaison between communities and the pharmacy for delivery-related concerns, demonstrating professional customer service and communication skills.
- Coordinate the training of Symbria drivers and Symbria Direct independent contractors.
- Assist with the startup of new communities, including delivery and setup of new medication carts and fax machines.
- Assist with the startup of new pharmacies, including route planning, staffing, and training.
- Correspond with clients, suppliers, and transportation hubs to ensure efficiency with needed supplies.
- Ensure delivery vehicles owned or leased by the company receive proper maintenance for safe travel.
- Track and report quality measures related to deliveries, including delivery times, route adherence, and vehicle maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair medication carts and install or repair fax machines upon client requests.
- Establish and maintain benchmark supplies for all medication cart repairs.
- Analyze the final staging/toting step of pharmacy workflow to improve effectiveness.
- Cover principal functions of delivery drivers during staff shortages and PTO needs.
- Ensure contracted courier compliance with company policy, procedures, and contractual terms.
- Review and approve independent contractors' and couriers' invoices for timely payment.
- Ensure each delivery obtains a signature as proof of delivery, stored in an easily retrievable format for audits.
- Oversee shipping of packages via UPS, FedEx, and other company shipping methods.
- Plan and monitor inbound and outgoing deliveries via in-house shipping processes.
- Advise and consult other Symbria locations on logistics initiatives or optimizations, including occasional travel.
- Periodically evaluate and advise management on logistics strategies or technologies to improve customer service or decrease costs, including selecting the best courier company.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Pharmacy Technician License as per State requirements.
- Minimum 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a violation-free driving record.
- Delivery or logistics experience; minimum three to five years.
- Managerial experience; minimum one to three years.
- Knowledge of logistics software benefits and capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to develop and assist team members.
- Capacity to build and sustain relationships with courier or vendor services.
- General knowledge or willingness to learn the operation of fax machines and maintenance of medication carts.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Knowledge of business English, spelling, and commercial arithmetic.
- General computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and lead in a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and covering open shifts or off-site calls for emergent needs.
