About the role
Loews Hotels & Co. seeks an Area Event Manager to oversee convention, meeting, and rooms-only event business at multiple locations. This role ensures all event details and execution are aligned with client specifications and Loews Hotels standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and verify all assigned group files, including contracts and addendums.
- Lead client communication and introduce clients to operational and vendor partners.
- Create Banquet Event Orders and other reports to inform hotel departments about set-up, purchasing, and scheduling needs.
- Communicate event details, deadlines, and key documents to clients, obtain approvals, and ensure client understanding of the event planning process.
- Partner with group reservation desk and group credit and billing departments to manage all group reservations and payments.
- Distribute accurate and detailed Banquet Event Orders and group resumes to appropriate hotel departments.
- Determine event needs for pre-convention and other internal or guest-facing planning meetings, then coordinate and lead these meetings.
- Maintain accuracy of booking information in Delphi, including space blocking, food & beverage function details, and attachment of signed key event support documents.
- Accurately forecast and report on group food and beverage spend, and monitor rooms utilization.
- Drive incremental banquet food and beverage and room rental revenue to meet department budget goals.
- Attend and present at relevant hotel meetings, as necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years event management experience in a full-service luxury hotel handling large groups of 500 or more.
- Knowledge of hotel operational departments.
- Ability to partner effectively with clients, guests, and all levels of hotel staff and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Delphi experience preferred; Diagramming software experience preferred.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
