Primary Responsibilities

The Business Class (BC) Lead for Dams, Levees, and Civil Works is responsible for the direction, control, and quality of work for the dam, levee, civil works, and flood risk management projects in Kentucky and Tennessee.

The duties of the Dams, Levees, and Civil Works Business Class Lead are to plan, direct, and oversee all aspects of large-scale multi-discipline and multi-benefit projects with a high degree of technical complexity.

  • Build and maintain client relations and participate in project development and contract document preparation.
  • Mentor mid- and junior-level staff across a variety of disciplines.
  • Participate in and provide oversight of a variety of project types, including planning, design, inspection, and construction management of interior drainage and riverine flood risk management projects; dams and reservoirs; ecosystem restoration; drainage; and general site civil.
  • Cookordination with inter-related disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, structural, geology, geotechnical, civil, mechanical, CADD and GIS.
  • Coordinate projects with inter-related disciplines such as hydrology, hydraulics, structural, geology, geotechnical, civil, mechanical, CADD and GIS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR's technical expertise and brand
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • 10 years of experience
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Experienced in development and management of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with other area business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
