About the role
The Architectural Staff II–III position at Shape Architecture Studio is designed for a designer with 6–8 years of experience, including commercial work, who is ready to take on greater responsibilities in project development, consultant coordination, technical execution, and client communication.
Responsibilities
- Support projects from schematic design through construction administration
- Lead aspects of project development and coordination appropriate to experience level
- Produce and refine drawings, BIM models, and presentation materials
- Prepare permit and construction document sets
- Coverage with consultants, engineers, and specialty teams
- Participate in client meetings and presentations (with increasing leadership opportunities)
- Conduct code research and support permitting strategies
- Develop renderings, diagrams, and presentation materials
- Assist with scheduling, task management, and project coordination
- Support construction administration (RFIs, submittals, site visits, consultant coordination)
- Contribute to QA/QC and technical consistency across documents
- Support and mentor junior staff as opportunities arise
Requirements
- 6+ years of architectural experience
- Professional degree in Architecture (M.Arch preferred)
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with BIM platforms and ability to learn new tools quickly
- Strong communication and graphic presentation skills
- Understanding of building codes, detailing, and construction documentation
- Experience with building systems and construction methods
- Interest in high-performance and sustainable design
- Strong organization and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and detail-oriented
Preferred Experience
- Experience in both commercial and residential project types
- Experience in construction administration
- Experience coordinating consultants and permit processes
- Familiarity with high-performance building standards and building science principles
- Licensure or active pursuit of licensure
- Experience mentoring junior staff
- Experience leading project teams and client coordination
- Experience with Archicad
