About the role
Liberty University seeks adjunct architectural educators and professionals to contribute to the innovative teaching of architectural subjects within the new Architecture & Design Program. Teaching focuses on instruction and course development towards NAAB accreditation in areas like architectural structural systems, building technologies, site construction, process, environmental systems, history, theory, and criticism at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Additionally, the position may involve teaching design studios.
Responsibilities
- Teach subject material according to the approved curriculum and assigned schedule.
- Mentor and inspire students in matters related to academics, attendance, professionalism, and behaviors.
- Provide regular reviews and assessments of student work and deliver timely feedback.
- Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies.
- Motivate students to participate actively in educational, professional, and creative processes.
- Maintain university standards regarding course activity, emails, grading, and communication.
- Maintain continued course development and end-of-semester assessments toward meeting NAAB accreditation goals.
- Adhere to Liberty University policies and The Liberty Way – Student Honor Code.
- Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering the University’s Christian model and Mission.
Qualifications, Credentials, And Competencies
- Master of Architecture (M. Arch) degree or a terminal degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited institution.
- Provide evidence of, or the potential for, effective teaching, tested professional expertise, creative/scholarly activity, public communication, and professional collegiality.
- Preferred qualifications include a Ph.D. in Architecture or a closely related field, professional experience and licensure for teaching upper-level and advanced courses, previous teaching experience and creative/scholarly work in areas of disciplinary expertise, a personal faith commitment to the Liberty University’s evangelical Christian mission, and full adherence to its doctrines.
- Demonstrated strength or potential in teaching at the college level, with familiarity in use of collaborative and online learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of experience, skills, and abilities.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, empathetic, customer service, and problem-solving skills, with abilities to work well with students, faculty, and staff, as well as public entities.

- Communication and Comprehension: Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
- Problem Solving: Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
