About the role

MQ Architecture PLLC is seeking an Architectural Technical Coordinator / Job Captain to support an active public agency architecture contract in New York City. This is a technical, coordination-focused, and client-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Support architectural documentation, coordination, and technical review for public agency and institutional projects.
  • Aid with existing condition surveys, field observations, site visits, and project scoping.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate architectural drawings, sketches, reports, and technical documentation following Public Agency standards.
  • Assist with construction documents, technical specifications, consultant coordination, and cost estimate support.
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, field conditions, punch list items, and as-built documentation as needed.
  • Cook up with client representatives, consultants and contractors.
  • Maintain organized project records, meeting notes, daily time records, and task documentation.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in project meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • 5-7 years of professional architectural experience.
  • Strong technical background in construction documents, detailing, coordination, and existing building conditions.
  • Experience with renovations, existing facilities, institutional work, public agency projects, transportation, infrastructure, aviation, rail, port, or large commercial facilities is preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and coordinate between Public Agency discipline teams: architectural, structural, MEPFP, Civil.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Comfortable working onsite.
  • Organized, reliable, discreet, and able to work with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Likely authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to complete required client onboarding and training.
