Architectural Staff Level III (Unlicensed) - Healthcare

Hoefer Welker is seeking an Architect Level III with 8+ years of experience.

About the role

This position involves efficiently and effectively managing, designing, and delivering successful building projects through a proactive delivery process, whether with in-house staff or outside AEC team members, while adhering to office standards and processes.

Responsibilities

• Support, direct, and mentor staff within a team-oriented atmosphere, prioritizing company, client, and project goals over personal agendas.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and owners in an integrated project delivery process across all phases—design, construction, and post-occupancy—to achieve client, project, and internal office objectives.
• Focus on client satisfaction and fostering long-term relationships for future project opportunities.
• Coordinate and monitor project personnel to ensure job assignments align with project requirements.
• Maintain awareness of scope, schedule, budget, and status for all assigned projects.
• Develop and sustain client confidence through professionalism, accountability, and high performance.
• Conduct architectural studies, develop design concepts and criteria, and prepare reports, calculations, and detailed design and construction documents.
• Perform preliminary field surveys and draft preliminary project plans.
• Assist in developing statements of probable cost.
• Present plans and documents to governing and permitting authorities for land use, zoning, and permit approvals.
• Observe construction inspections for adherence to plans and specifications; advise contractors on interpretations.
• Prepare materials, write construction specifications, and develop detailed construction documents.
• Ensure quality assurance programs are initiated and adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in conceptual design and provide full support as a subject-matter expert (SME) on specialized systems.
• Liaise with project management, architects, and consultants, representing the lead technical viewpoint on projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent in education or experience.
• 8+ years of experience in architectural practice as a project architect on technical projects.
• NCARB registration and LEED Green Associate Accreditation desired.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use a personal, insured vehicle for work-related tasks.

Skills

• Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office; Deltek and Vantagepoint knowledge preferred.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with strong leadership, decision-making, delegation, and mentoring abilities.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality, responsive design solutions and documentation for construction in various styles while providing exceptional client service.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a drive to consistently meet project design and performance goals.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across disciplines and with diverse teams.
