Job Description
In this role, you will:
- Monitor Design Consultant contract requirements against deliverables.
- Coordinate project governance design presentations and input.
- Manage scope of each design submittal package.
- Develop and recommend cost reduction initiatives when necessary to stay in budget.
- Facilitate responses to RFI’s between the project team and Design Consultant.
- Schedule design workshops between Design Consultant, Client and other stakeholders.
- Support the design to budget process including evaluation of technical design alternatives.
- Support the PM Team to coordinate, schedule, and assist with constructability reviews during all phases of design.
- Document design-related issues, decisions, and actions within Client Document Control System and manage to resolution.
- Coordinate and schedule design review meetings and consolidate input from stakeholders, including any third-party reviewers.
- Coordinate design feedback to Design Consultant(s).
- Conduct design review sessions with stakeholders and oversee design feedback input.
- Confirm all resolved design issues have been incorporated into design submittal packages.
- Coverage of submittals/shop drawings from client project stakeholders, including subject matter experts, airport operations, and project team.
- Support project close-out activities related to Design Consultant obligations and deliverables.
- Verify all project level designs follow codes and standards.
- Verify all project level designs follow regulatory and environmental requirements.
- Enforce client’s CADD and BIM framework, environment, policy and procedures.
- Performs a variety of assignments such as conducting architectural studies, developing design concepts and design criteria, and preparing related reports.
- Coordinates work with engineering and construction units at project sites.
- Reviews, approvals, and issues detailed design and construction drawings and specifications prepared by others.
- Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
- Prepares material and equipment specifications and purchase requisitions; reviews supplier data; witnesses shop tests, assists with assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
- Selects materials and writes construction specifications.
- Reviews CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards prepared by Architectural Designers.
- Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- May function as a lead member of a project team.
- Provides technical guidance to lower-level Architectural Designer/Drafters working on the same project and may provide input regarding their performance.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Architecture.
- Overall working knowledge of the architectural and systems elements of airports infrastructure and supporting facilities.
- Demonstrable establishment of collaborative relationships with stakeholders involved in planning, design, and construction of airport facilities (airport, community and government).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in the management of project design including significant time at airports.
- Experience in the design development of new/expanded facilities while maintaining operations.
- Professional registration is not required, but a plus.
