Architectural Designer, Job Captain
About the Role
We are seeking a talented Job Captain / Architectural Designer to join a growing design team delivering innovative workplace, healthcare, retail, tenant improvement, industrial, and corporate projects. This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced architects, project managers, and industry leaders while taking ownership of projects from concept through construction documentation. What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and support architectural projects from design through construction documentation.
- Develop creative design concepts and practical architectural solutions.
- Produce high-quality Revit models, drawings, and construction documents.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Interface with clients to understand project goals and design requirements.
- Participate in site planning, space planning, zoning analysis, and building design.
- Review building codes and ensure designs comply with regulations.
- Assist with construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, and change directives.
- Prepare presentations, design packages, and material selections for client review.
- Manage multiple project assignments and deadlines simultaneously.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a strong learning culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2-10 years of experience as an Architectural Designer, Job Captain, Project Architect, or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in Revit and architectural production.
- Experience developing construction documents and technical drawings.
- Background in one or more of the following: Healthcare, Workplace / Corporate Interiors, Tenant Improvement (TI), Retail, Industrial Projects.
- Excellent project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and design quality.
- Self-starter who can work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with site planning and zoning analysis.
- Construction administration experience.
- LEED Accreditation.
- Progress toward architectural licensure is a plus.
- Technical drafting or architectural production experience from architectural or design programs.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wayzata, MN.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
