IPS, a global leader in technical consulting, architecture, engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, qualification, and validation services for technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry, is seeking a dedicated Architectural Designer I to join our team in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

About the role

You will collaborate with a team of Designers, Architects, and Engineers to assist in the design and development of architectural projects, ensuring they meet or exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of design documentation for masterplanning, schematic, preliminary, and construction documentation phases.
  • Interpret mark-up drawings and execute changes on projects based on such mark-ups, supporting more senior department personnel and Architectural Designers I.
  • Use Revit to develop architectural contract documentation aligned with company BIM/CAD standards.
  • Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
  • Communicate workload status to the Project Team and request work as needed.
  • Collaborate with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain necessary information for design completion.
  • Interact with clients on a limited basis to secure scope and design intent.
  • Ensure acceptable levels of quality and coordination of work to reflect design intent.
  • Support field visits and site surveys when accompanied by more senior departmental personnel.
  • Create renderings, generate diagrams, and complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of previous architectural design office experience (Co-op or Internship experience qualifies).
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and a fundamental understanding of BIM workflows.
  • General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding of building codes.
  • Bachelor's Degree; Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) degree with NAAB Accreditation.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders as necessary.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Adherence to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.

Travel

  • 5-20% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
  • Possible assignment to a client site for an extended period.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the Client’s location may be required, depending on the assignment.
  • Must adhere to stated safety rules at client sites.
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel/commute on a daily or routine basis.

Safety

This is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.

Pay

The salary for this role ranges from $56,000 to $75,000, dependent on experience, skill set, and education.
