Architect Lead
About the role
As a Lead Data & AI Platform Architect, you will serve as the technical domain expert on foundational data, integration, and AI infrastructure technologies. You will steer technology strategy, define target state architectures, and build reference implementations for scalable, resilient data platforms optimized for Generative AI and Machine Learning. You will also be responsible for identifying and evaluating emerging technologies beneficial to this domain.
You will be expected to possess hands-on expertise in modern cloud technologies, including but not limited to Databricks, Dremio, Snowflake, and tools for data governance, protection, and quality. This position requires a practical approach to testing and validating solutions in lab environments, ensuring that data pipelines are AI-ready, performant, and secure. You will act as a thought leader in data architecture, providing guidance on governance, security, and compliance.
You will serve as the technical authority on foundational data and integration technologies, driving the technology strategy and target state architecture to support business goals. You will also evaluate emerging technologies, guiding the organization to adopt innovations that deliver value while minimizing disruption to end-users. Collaboration and thought leadership will be essential as you influence architects, engineers, and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals.

Responsibilities
- Steer technology strategy and define target state architectures for scalable, resilient data platforms optimized for Generative AI and Machine Learning
- Build reference implementations for data platforms
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies beneficial to the data and AI domain
- Test and validate solutions in lab environments, ensuring data pipelines are AI-ready, performant, and secure
- Provide guidance on governance, security, and compliance
- Drive technology strategy and target state architecture to support business goals
- Guide the organization to adopt innovations that deliver value while minimizing disruption to end-users
- Influence architects, engineers, and stakeholders to achieve strategic goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability in defining, designing, and delivering enterprise-scale data strategies and data management solutions leveraging sound architecture principles, approaches, and patterns
- At least 10 years of deep architecture and engineering experience with expertise in: Cloud-native data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, Dremio), LLM Orchestration (LangChain, LlamaIndex), and AI development frameworks
- Hands-on experience with modern patterns, including domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, RAG architectures, Agentic AI patterns, Semantic Layers, and Data Mesh
- Expertise in Python, Spark, and the deployment of large language models (LLMs) via AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, or Mosaic AI
- Proven ability to define, design, and deliver enterprise-scale data strategies and solutions based on sound architectural principles using architectural choices that optimize performance, cost, and security
- Hands-on experience with modern data architecture patterns, including domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, stream processing, Lakehouse, service-based/APIs, data mesh, and/or data fabric
- Demonstrated capability to research, assess, and recommend new and emerging trends and implement emerging technologies with a focus on minimizing user disruption
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to generate and present compelling content to guide strategic decisions
- Adopted customer-centric approaches by prioritizing stakeholder needs, ensuring data solutions drive meaningful business impact and user experience
- Ability to build consensus across business and technology teams by fostering collaboration and shared ownership, partner with, and effectively influence architects and engineers to adopt/adhere to enterprise standards and deliver well-architected data-centric solutions while balancing technical depth with business outcomes
- Ability to proactively identify and mitigate architectural risks while ensuring adherence to regulatory and compliance standards

Pay
Southern California Base Salary Range: $201,683-$322,693
New York Base Salary Range: $213,795-$342,072
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
